How to Prevent the Common Cold

Dr. Deguehery will talk about how to prevent the common cold, and ways to shorten its duration. He will also provide an opportunity for the participants to “Ask the Doctor” any questions they would like. Additionally, he will explain the importance of vitamin D and how it impacts our immune system.

BIO: Dr. Deguehery has an BS in Biology from the University of South Florida, an MS in Biology from the University of Central Florida and he received his Doctorate from the University of South Florida. Deguehery taught school for two years before entering the Army for two ears and then went to medical school. He was in private practice here in Wilson for 32 years he has worked for the NC prison system. He served as the TB medical advisor for the Health Department since 1998 and has been at our facility Medical Director for the last year. He is an avid cyclist and loves to work on old cars.

"Space Race" walking Challenge at the Public Library

Join the Space Race! The Library is holding a solar-system-themed walking challenge June 1st through July 19th as part of Summer Reading Program 2019, “A Universe of Stories”. This walking challenge is open to all ages. Stop by any Wilson County Public Library location to sign up and track your steps. Everyone who hits the “finish Line” will be entered in a gift card drawing; each stretch goal you hit gets you an extra ticket in the drawing! Rules:

  1. Sign up at the Library!

  2. Beginning June 1, track the number of miles you walk. There is a mileage goal to “walk to” each object in our solar system.

  3. As you hit each goal, check in with the library desk to update your progress.

  4. The end date for the walking challenge is July 19 — all steps must be logged in by July 19.

  5. Everyone who has hit the “Finish Line” goal of 46.7 miles by July 19th, will be entered in a gift card drawing. Prizes are one 1st prize of a $25 Amazon gift certificate, and 3 runner up prizes of $10 Amazon gift certificates.

  6. There are two stretch goals; for each stretch goal you hit, you will get an extra entry in the drawing!

  7. The winning entrants will be notified by July 31, 2019. Prize must be collected by August 31, 2019; if prize is not collected by that date, the winning entry is considered void and another winner will be selected.
