Med Instead of Meds Series

Join us to gain skills to go Med! Included in this program is recipes, cooking demonstrations, taste tests, life hacks, label reading, meal planning and more. The cost per person is $10 per class or $50 for the full series of 6 classes. Classes will be offered every other Tuesday night, from 5:30p-7:30p, at the Wilson County Agriculture Center. Class schedule is below.

  •  Tuesday, March 20th- Introduction to the Med way and mindful eating
  • Tuesday, April 3rd- Change your protein and meal planning

  • Tuesday, April 17th- Swap your fats and protein and right-sizing your portions

  • Tuesday, May 1st- Eat more fruits and vegetables with mindful eating

  • Tuesday, May 15th- Make your grains whole and label reading

  • Tuesday, May 29th- Rethink your sweets and simple steps for physical activity

To register, please mail your registration and payment. You may also choose to stop by the Wilson County Agriculture Center to register and pay. You will not be registered until payment is received.

MARCH LIBRARY PROGRAMS ANNOUNCED

Wilson County Public Library will offer a variety of free programs for the community this March at the Main Library and Branches.

 Founded in 1939, the Wilson County Public Library engages the community and enhances the minds of all ages with programs, lectures, classes, and entertainment. Regular Library hours are 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.  All locations are closed on Sundays.

Wilson Reads 2018 continues in March with the following programs and events:

Documentary showing

We will continue the documentary series Makers, which showcases the achievements of groundbreaking women.

Monday, March 12, 6:30 p.m.  Robert Cagna from Barton College will discuss the history of Women in Technology on Postage Stamps – with free stamps for attendees!

 TEEN EVENT

Wednesday, March 14, 5:30-8:00 p.m.  March 14 is pie – er, Pi Day!  Join us for treats and activities centered on the number that makes the world go ‘round.

FAMILY EVENTS

Saturday, March 17, 3:00 p.m.  Wilson County Public Library has partnered with the Imagination Station for a Women in Science Program: Rocket Girls.  Hear stories of women with stellar careers in the space exploration program and view rocket experiments on the lawn.  All ages are welcome.

Saturday, March 24, 3:00 p.m.  Wilson County Public Library presents its Grassroots Grant project, a theater production entitled We Can Do It: American Women in History.  Funding is provided by the Friends of the Wilson County Public Library and the Wilson Arts Council with the NC Arts Council.  All ages are welcome.

Main Library

For children, early literacy programs will continue at the Main Library every Wednesday and Thursday morning.  Children ages birth through two are invited to join the 9:30 a.m. program.  Preschool age children are invited to join the 10:00 a.m. program.  Family Storytimes are scheduled for Saturday, March 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31 at 3:00 p.m. 

A series of Introduction to Computers classes will be offered in the Main Library Conference Room Wednesdays, March 7, 14, 21, and 28 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Registration is required by Monday, March 5.  Each class builds on the one before, so please plan to attend all four classes in March.  For more information and to register, call Mark at 252-237-5355 ext. 5074.
