Library Programs for February 2018
Wilson County Public Library has a variety of free programs for the community this February at the Main Library and Branches.
Founded in 1939, the Wilson County Public Library has been engaging the community and enhancing the minds of all people of all ages with programs, lectures, classes, and entertainment. Normal Library operating hours are 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Wednesday; 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday through Saturday; All Wilson County Public Libraries are closed on Sunday.

Wilson Reads 2018
Wilson Reads 2018 continues in February with the following programs and events:
Book Discussions: Join us for all-ages book discussions of “Hidden Figures”. February 5th at 11:00 am (Elm City Library), February 14th at 1:30 (East Library), February 22 at 3:00 p.m. (Stantonsburg Library)
Documentary Showing: We will be showing the 6-part series, “Makers”, which showcases the achievements of groundbreaking women. “Women in Business” February 5th at 6:30, “Women in War” February 19th at 6:30, “Women in Hollywood” February 12th at 6:30, “Women in Comedy” February 26th at 6:30. All showings will be held at the Main Library.
Adult/Teen Craft: Join us at one of these free sessions to make fun space-themed magnets on February 6th at 6:00 p.m. and 7th at 2:00 p.m. located at the Main Library. Open to ages 13+, registration required – call 252-237-5355.
Lecture: Acclaimed local genealogist and historian Lisa Henderson will talk on “Neighborhood as Palimpsest: Uncovering East Wilson’s Hidden History” on February 8th at 6:30 p.m. at the Main library.
Teen Event: I © STEAM, a night of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) learning activities and fun will be held at the Main Library on February 14th from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Movie Showing: “Hidden Figures”. Watch the box-office smash movie and enjoy free refreshments at the Main Library on February 15th at 3:00 p.m.
Family Craft Program: Learn about the night sky by making constellation string art on February 17th at 3:00 p.m. at the Main Library. Free program, children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required. Please call 252-237-5355 to register for this program.
Lecture: Local historian Alex Albright shares the fascinating story of the “Forgotten First”, the African-American B-1 band that helped integrate the modern Navy. This lecture will be held at the Main Library on February 20th at 6:30 p.m.
Main Library
For children, early literacy programs will continue at the Main Library every Wednesday and Thursday morning. Children ages birth through 2 are invited to join the 9:30 a.m. program. Preschool age children are invited to join the program at 10:00 a.m. program. Family Storytimes are scheduled for Saturday, February 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th at 3:00 p.m.
A series of Introduction to Computers classes will be offered in the Main Library Conference Room Wednesdays, February 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Registration is required by February 2nd. Each class builds on the one before, so please plan to attend all four classes in February. For more information and to register, call Mark at 252-237-5355 ext. 5074.

Preschooler Story Time: Tuesday, February 13th and February 27th at 10:00 a.m.

Teen Program: Magazine Roll Creations on Thursday, February 8th at 4:00 p.m.
Teen Program: Game Fun!!! on Thursday, February 22nd at 4:00 p.m.

A Valentine’s Day Party for children ages 0 to 10 years old will be held on Tuesday, February 13th from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
An Anti-Valentine’s Day Party for children and teens ages 11-17 will be held on Thursday, February 15th from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Stantonsburg
