  • Join us for Lapsit Storytime on Tuesdays, September 3, 10, 17, 24 and Wednesdays, September 4, 11, 18, 25 at 9:30 am. Ages 0-2. No registration required.

  • Saturday family Storytime is on Saturdays, September 7, 24, 21, 28 at 3:00 pm. No registration required.

  • Join us for a Bilingual Spanish/English family Storytime at the Main Library on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 4:00 pm. The Library will continue this bilingual program the last Tuesday of each month. No registration required.

Youth STEAM Programs

  • STEAM programs take place in Youth Services on Tuesdays at 7:00 pm. September 3rd: Clay Sculpting, ages 5 and up, no registration required; September 10th: Ozobots Programming, ages 7 and up, registration required; September 17th: 3D Printed nametags, ages 7 and up, registration required. The recurring monthly LEGO Club takes place on September 24th. All LEGOs are provided. Ages 5 and up, no registration required.

  • Join the Teen Fantasy Football League Kickoff on Tuesday, September 3rd at 5:00 - 6:30 pm in the Main Library Assembly Room. Ages 13 and up. Registration is requested in order to determine the number of team and leagues. Call 252/237-5355 ext 5073 to register.

Youth Programs

  • Do you have a desire or a need to start a business to support yourself? Register for the Ice House Entrepreneurship — From Joblessness to Business Ownership series on Wednesdays, September 4th thru October 23rd, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Main Library Assembly Room. In this course, Small Business center Director Melissa Evans will share eight life lessons from an unlikely entrepreneur with a compelling story. Clifton Taulbert, a Pulitzer Nominated Author whose Journey led from the cotton fields to the ice house and to bank ownership and allowed him to ultimately live his dream, will unveil his path to success through the course materials. Explore and be inspired by the entrepreneurial mindset behind the behaviors that let Clifton and others to become successful business owners. preseted in partnership with the Wilson Community College Small Business center. registration is required.   • Let’s Talk About It Series meets every two weeks August 29th thru August 24th. Open to all ages; contact the library for the reading list or to reserve copies of the books. The series continues with a discussion of Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen, led by scholar sue Ross. Part 3: Thursday, September 26th, at 6:30 pm. Michael Brantley, professor at Barton College, will lead us in a discussion of If You Want Me to Stay by Michael Parker. This project is made possible by funding from the North carolina Humanities Council, a statewide non-profit and affiliate of the National Endownment for the Humanities.

  • Need help figuring out your tablet, smartphone, or eReader? Drop in to Device Advice on Wednesday, September 25th, 2:00 - 4:00 pm. for 1:1 assistance from library staff. This event takes place in the Main Library Assembly Room. Registration is required.

Local History and Genealogy Programs

  • Rob Christensen will discuss and sign copies of his book, The Rise and fall of the Branchhead Boys at the Wilson County Genealogical Society meeting on Tuesday, September 24th at 7:00 pm in the Main Library Assembly Room. Louisiana had the Longs, Virginia had the Byrds, Georgia had the Talmadges and North Carolina had the Scott’s dominating Tar Heel politics. Mr. Christensen tells the story of the Scott’s and the era they dominated Tar Heel politics. This presentation should be of great interest to all and especially to those researching the Scotts. All are welcome. No registration required.

Black Creek

Some programs are funded by a Library Service and Technology Act (LSTA) Grant awarded to Wilson County Public Library for the creation of a CrAFT Study — Creativity, Art, Fabrication and Technology Lab. The CrAFT Studio will combine the Markerspace movement with STEAM subjects through robotics, coding, crafts, electronics, and more.
