SUMMER READING PROGRAMS CONTINUE
Wilson County Public Library invites all ages to experience our Summer Reading Program, A Universe of Stories, continuing in July. Programs for children are scheduled at all six locations and for teens at the Main Library, Lucama Library, and Elm City Library. The Adult Summer Reading Program takes place at the Main Library. A Universe of Stories is made possible by the generous assistance of the Friends of the Wilson County Public Library. All programs are free and open to the public. YOUTH PROGRAMS

Lapsit Storytime takes place Wednesdays, July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and Thursdays July 11, 18, 25 at 9:30 am for ages 0-2.
Join us for Preschool Storytime on Wednesdays, July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and Thursdays July 11, 18, 25 at 10:00 am for ages 3 and up.
Family Storytime is on Saturdays, July 6, 13, and 27 at 3:00 pm.
Join us for Spanish/English family Storytime at the Main Library on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 4:00 pm. The Library will continue this bilingual program the fourth Tuesday of each month. No registration required.
Storytimes take place in Youth Services. No registration required.
Join us or Sky Full of Stories on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 7:00 pm. Enjoy sun, moon and star stories with Scott and Debbie. Ages 5 and up. No registration required.
Experience Sea Moons: Presented by the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 7:00 pm. Aquarium staff will present a program featuring lie moon jellies. Explore why the celestial moon is so important to sea turtles, discuss why moon jellies were named after the moon and learn how sea turtles pursue them as food. Ages 5 and up. No registration required.
Sun, Moon and Star Yoga takes place Monday, July 15, 2019 at 7:00 pm. Enjoy yoga with instructor Stacy Matthews. Ages 5 and up. No registration required.\
Bright Star Touring Theater Presents Jack’s Adventures in Space on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 3:00 pm. When it comes to adventure and imagination, no one beats Jack! Come along with Jack in this out of this world adventure through the solar system! This program is given in loving memory of Paul McRae Kushner by his parents. Ages a5 and up and no registration is required.
Youth STEAM Programs

Enjoy building at Lego Club on Tuesday, July 23 at 7:00 pm. Lego Club is presented every fourth Tuesday of the month. All legos are provided.
Discover Rattlesnakes on Tuesday, July 30 at 7:00 pm where you can learn about rattlesnakes and make a rattlesnake tail.
Young Adult Programs

Teens ages 12 and up are invited to Interstellar Crafting Programs* on Thursdays, 3:00 - 5:00 pm. Programs include Galaxy Bottles on July 11, Galaxy Rocks on July 18, and CD Spinning Tops on July 25. These programs will take place in the Main Library Assembly Room. No registration required.
Join us for a Teen Summer Movie on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm in the Main Library Seembly Room. Travel to the 90’s to discover the origin of a galactic hero! This movie is rated PG-13.
Get your game on with Sci Fi Gaming and classic games with Dreamdaze on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm in the Main Library Assembly Room. Door prizes will be awarded.
Get crafty with DIY Maker Wednesdays, July 12 — July 24 at 10:00 am until 8:00 pm in the 2nd floor CRAFT Studio. No registration required.
ADULT PROGRAMS
The second annual Adult Summer Reading Program, A Universe of Stories, continues in July. Join us for a variety of space-themed activities, including lectures, movies, crafts, a space-themed walking challenge for the entire family, and the chance to win cool prizes! Friday Morning Family Moves will take place on July 5, 12, 19, 26 at 10:00 am. Enjoy a free movie and complimentary refreshments. All ages invited. No registration required for small groups, but space is limited, so come early to be sure of getting a seat. John Todd from the tar River Astronomuy Club will present Astonomy: A Beginner’s Guide on Tuesday, July 9 at 11:00 am. All ages. No registration is required.
Follow our resident artist in painting a night scene at the Starry Nigh Painting Party and then create your own masterpiece to take home. This takes place on Tuesday, July 16, at 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Party Likes it’s 1969 at the Retro Moon Landing Party on Saturday, July 20 from 3:00 until 5:00 pm. Join us in celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the moon landing. Enjoy moon=-themed refreshments, then watch a rebroadcast of the moon landing at the original time of 4:17 pm. 1960s themed clothing is optional, but encouraged. All ages. No registration required.

Join us for the Computer Basics series on Wednesdays from 2:00 until 3:00 pm. This is a three part beginner series. Please register for each class. Learn Keyboard and Mouse Basics on July 10, Computer Basics on July 17 and Internet Basics on July 24.
The Microsoft Excel Series continues Mondays from 6:30 until 8:00 pm. This is a continuation of a four part series. Computer proficiency and basic Excel experience is required. Part 3 Formulas and Functions takes place July 8, Part 4 Working with Tables is on July 15.
Need help figuring out how to use your tablet, smartphone or eReader? Drop in for 1:1 help in Device Advice in the Main Library Assembly Room on Wednesday, July 31, 2:00 until 4:00 pm. Register is required.
Local History and Genealogy programs

Natalie Copeland will offer a two part genealogy series in July. This begins with Discover Your family History 1: Learn How to Build A Family tree on Tuesday, July 9 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. This introductory workshop will enable you to connect to the past by research and building a family tree. Learn about basic record types that will help you build a strong family tree as well as tips for tracking and organizing your family tree data.
Discover Your family History II: Preserving Your Family tree will take place on July 23 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Learn how to organize and preserve your family history data in a digital format. Explore online tree-building tools and places where you can share your family history documents and images online.

Some programs are funded by a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Grant awarded to Wilson County Public Library for the creation of a CrAFT Studio—Creativity, Art, Fabrication, and Technology lab. The CrAFT Studio will combine the Makerspace movement with STEAM subjects through robotics, coding, crafts, electronics, and more.
