September Library Programs Announced

Wilson County public Library will offer a variety of free programs for the community this September at the Main Library and Branches.

Founded in 1939, the Wilson County public Library engages the community and enhances the minds of all ages with programs, lectures, classes, and entertainment.  Main Library hours are 9:00 am to 9:00 pm Monday through Wednesday and 9?00 am to 6:00 pm Thursday thru Saturday.  Branch hours vary.  All locations are closed on Sundays.  Fore more information, call (252) 237-5355 or visit www.wilsoncountypubliclibrary.org.

  •  Lapsit:  Every Wednesday and Thursday, 9:30 a.m.  Ages 0-2.
  • Preschool storytime: Every Wednesday and Thursday, 10:00 a.m.

 Marshmallow Engineering*

  • Main Library Children’s Room
  • Tuesday, September 4, 7:00 p.m.
  • Explore 3D shapes with marshmallows and toothpicks, shape sorters, iPads and OSMO Tangrams.  Recommended for ages 4+.  No registration required.

KEVA Planks*

  • Main Library Children’s Room

  • Explore building with KEVA planks.  Recommended for ages 4+.  No registration required.

 Catapult Construction*

  • Main Library Children’s Room
  • Tuesday, September 18, 7:00 p.m.
  • Build and play with a simple catapult.  Recommended for ages 4+.  No registration required.

 LEGO Club*

  • Main Library Children’s Room
  • Tuesday, September 25, 7:00 p.m.
  • Come prepared to build and use your imagination.  All LEGOs are provided.  Recommended for ages 4+.  No registration required.

*Program funded by a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Grant awarded to Wilson County Public Library for the creation of a CrAFT Studio—Creativity, Art, Fabrication, and Technology lab.  The CrAFT Studio will combine the MakerSpace movement with STEAM subjects through robotics, coding, crafts, electronics, and more.

Teen Advisory Board - First Meeting!

 Banned Books Week 2018: Book Safe for Teens

 Wilson County Genealogical Society Meeting

Brian Grawburg, a local resident and genealogist, will present "Out of Sight: A Project to Photograph Hidden Cemeteries in Wilson County." He will talk about his work to find and document hidden cemeteries and graves throughout Wilson County. Grawburg's use of a 1937 Leica rangefinder camera allows him to put the images on film which he then develops himself. The talk should be of interest to not only family history researchers but also photography enthusiasts.  All invited.  No registration required.
